Joint 80-20 EF and 80-20 PAC Announcement

If indeed 3 out of the 4 randomly rejected passengers on United Airlines (U.A.) flight 3411 were Asians, as rumored in Asian social media, then this could be a very serious racial discrimination case as well.  Note that a  Chicago-Louisville flight is unlikely to have many Asians on board.

However, repeated contacts with U.A. have thus far failed to receive a confirmation or denial on that point.  80-20 Initiative, composed of both PAC and EF, will be vigilant, and is keeping a very intense watch over the situation.

Setting race aside, we as citizens were outraged by how U.A. allowed police to drag a senior citizen with a proper ticket down the aisle of an airplane, and urge U.A. to make broad changes to its policies so that nothing similar happens.  U.A.'s CEO has already apologized and promised changes.

(Why) Do Asian Americans have a target on their backs?

This is a guest post by Anna Lau, Ph.D., a professor of clinical psychology at UCLA.

Last weekend, Alexandra Wallace, a third-year political science major at UCLA posted a three-minute video on her Facebook page in which she complained about the habits of the 'hordes of Asians that are accepted to our school every year'. Ms. Wallace took her video down but not before "Asians in the Library" (link is external) went viral.

Enough is enough. On the heels of Bill O'Reilly's racist and insensitive remark about Representative Maxine Waters' hair and subsequent invocation of anti-black tropes, it was revealed that O'Reilly and Fox News have paid out more than $13 million dollars in sexual harassment settlements to five women. O'Reilly has a long history of attacking women, Black culture, and civil rights and used his position of power on the network to prey on vulnerable women and attempt to force himself sexually on them--harassing subordinates with disgusting phone calls and threatening to fire them for not giving into his lewd and misogynistic advances.

But even though, over 20 companies have decided to #DropOReilly, Hulu and Microsoft have decided to continue their relationship with "The O'Reilly Factor" despite Bill O'Reilly's disturbing pattern of abuse and violence. This isn't okay.

Tell Microsoft and Hulu to #DropOReilly and pull their advertising from his platform of misogyny.

Thanks for standing with us against hate.

Thanks again for telling Fox to clean up its sexual harassment problem. We need more people to make an example of today's largest cable news network. We've done it before when we got former CEO Roger Ailes kicked out--but we'll need more people. Can you share this with your friends? There's a sample email below. And here's a link you can share on Facebook and Twitter.

Hey,

BREAKING: Over 20 companies have pulled their ads from The O'Reilly Factor since it came to light that Fox News paid to silence at least five women who had been sexually harassed by host Bill O'Reilly.1

Last time Fox News was under the spotlight for sexual harassment, we forced out then-CEO and serial harasser Roger Ailes--now we have another chance to hold an abuser accountable.

That's why I signed this petition to fire Bill O'Reilly. Can you sign, too?

The Nebraska Public Service Commission is taking public comments for issue a permit to TransCanada in its state. We must speak out now to stop construction of this dangerous pipeline.

The President Is Horrified by Slaughtered Children. Good.

By Marc Ash, Reader Supported News, 07 April 17

"It was a slow and brutal death for so many. Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this very barbaric attack. No child of God should ever suffer such horror."
– U.S. President Donald Trump

That's a powerful renunciation of military crimes against civilians. What the U.S. commercial broadcast media failed to mention as they portrayed the president as strong and decisive was that emergency workers in Mosul are still pulling bodies from the rubble 22 days after U.S. airstrikes killed, at latest count, 300 civilians.

Many of the dead were beautiful babies and God's children as well. Chemical weapons are indeed horrific and should absolutely be banned. It is likely little comfort, however, to the surviving family members in Mosul that their loved ones were killed by American-made high explosive bombs rather than by sarin gas.

The Mosul attack is particularly troubling in light of reports by Amnesty International that U.S.-backed Iraqi authorities instructed residents not to flee the area prior to the strikes, apparently increasing the death toll.

The Mosul attack was not the first time in Trump's brief tenure that U.S. airstrikes have slaughtered civilians. Newsweek reports that as of March 31, estimates by human rights groups put the number of civilians killed by U.S. airstrikes under Donald Trump's authority at nearly "1,500."

Most of the talking heads on U.S. television last night seemed more intent on justifying the U.S. retaliatory strikes on the Syrian airbase at Homs than even mentioning the rapidly expanding death toll from U.S. military actions under the Trump administration, let alone the prodigious Obama era body count.

If beautiful babies slaughtered in horrific fashion actually do matter at this stage, as always, the United States now under the direction of a pathological liar and consummate propagandist is the not greatest defender, but the greatest offender.

Under sustained pressure over Russian collusion allegations and domestic policy failures, Trump appears enthusiastic about playing the role of military enforcer. Tough talk and body counts will reliably drive popularity ratings in America the beautiful, even if nothing else does.

George W. Bush was political toast on September 10th, 2001. He was seen as an illegitimate occupant of the White House after what was widely viewed as a stolen election. The Republicans looked poised to a take major beating in the 2002 midterms. That all changed the next day.

In America, war is the great unifier and the great destroyer of social fabric. If the president needs cheap political currency, he can always get it through military action.

Bashar al-Assad is a brutal, iron-fisted ruler who will not hesitate to use illegal weapons, torture, and murder against his own people. But newly-elected president Donald Trump is on pace to be a significantly more prolific killer than even Assad.

Trump may not know what he's doing, but the people on the ground struggling to pull their loved ones, many beautiful babies, from the rubble do.

We are getting a steady stream of images of civilians killed by Assad's attack. But the images of U.S. war strikes remain largely hidden from view. "No child of God should ever suffer such horror."

Indeed.

Subject: Google: Stop funding Breitbart

Thank you again for signing my petition telling Amazon to stop doing business with Breitbart. I wanted to let you know that there is an even larger company that could single-handedly remove Amazon and other advertisers from Breitbart and several white nationalist sites: Google.

Will you sign and share my petition telling Google to remove Breitbart from its default advertising placement list and to completely remove these hateful sites from its ad services? Click here to sign.

After an uproar over placement of ads on extremist Youtube videos leading some of Google's largest advertisers to walk away, the company announced last week that it would bolster its policies to address hate speech.

But it doesn't go far enough. Google Adwords is the largest and most prominent ad network on Breitbart, the alt-right 'news' site of Steve Bannon and his white nationalist followers.

And the company still lets neo-nazi sites get away with incitement of violence towards marginalized groups of people. Recently, a self-proclaimed white supremacist stabbed a Black man with a sword in Manhattan and admitted to police that it was an intentional hate crime. This same disturbed individuals subscribed to numerous white nationalist and anti-feminist Youtube channels.

Tell Google--and its parent company Alphabet, Inc.--to stop doing business with Breitbart and other extremist white nationalist sites.

Over the past few months, the incredible grassroots Sleeping Giants campaign has led thousands of companies, including most major corporations worldwide, to blacklist Breitbart in their Google advertising campaigns. Breitbart is by far the most advertiser-blocked website of all time.

And yet, Google continues to place advertisers' brands on Breitbart by default. Not only is Google failing to protect its advertisers, it is also directly doing business with the most prominent white nationalist website in the world.

Support CLG News: Your Source for Deep-State Truth | 10 April 2017 |

CLG News has been delivering news and critical commentary for over sixteen years, news and commentary that no one else has provided.

We began in January 2001 as a news source and activist base for exposing and opposing the GW Bush regime. While other sites either folded, or acquiesced, we persisted through the entirety of Bush's tenure.

We continued under the Obama administration, delivering a needed critical perspective over the last eight years. We were well ahead of the curve in reading the writing on the Wall; for the most part, Obama represented merely a change in identity and rhetoric, not a substantive shift in policy or politics. We maintained our opposition to neocon doctrines and continued to expose its fallacies and crimes.

Now, with the election of Donald Trump, our mission is as important as ever. Given the overwhelming evidence that an agenda preexists and supersedes whatever political desiderata any new President may bring to the office, we are inaugurating yet another phase of CLG News.

We are now determined to be your source for deep-state truth! And, just as a shadow government underlies the visible one, CLG News will also maintain a shadow website, www.deepstatetruth.com. This site redirects to www.legitgov.org for now, but will soon become an additional source for further in-depth reporting, analysis, and critical commentary.

CLG News is staffed by volunteers only, volunteers who believe it their duty to search for truth and provide glimpses of sanity in an insane world. To continue our mission, however, we need you.

With your help, we will continue to pay for our web hosting and database needs. We will launch the new site, www.deepstatenews.com, for in-depth news and analysis. And, most importantly,  we will continue forgo remunerative work so that we can serve your needs for indispensable news and critical inquiry. Please help us today. Subject: Can we ask the top 0.4% of wage earners to pay their fair share?

We have come a long way in the fight to expand Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. We've encountered setbacks, but never lost sight of the goal. With Donald Trump and Paul Ryan in power, it is more important than ever that we remember that the best defense is a good offense.

The American people are with us―they believe that the rich should pay more and that benefits should be expanded, not cut. Trump & Ryan believe the opposite.

Rep. John Larson is standing with the American people, and standing up to Trump and Ryan by introducing the Social Security 2100 Act, which expands Social Security and raises taxes on the top 0.4% of wage earners to pay for it.
And it has the most Congressional support of any expansion bill yet.

Join Social Security Works in calling on all Democrats in the House of Representatives to become a co-sponsor of the Social Security 2100 Act today.

---------- Forwarded message ---------
From: Michael Phelan, Social Security Works
Subject: The biggest Social Security expansion bill yet

Since its inception, conservatives and Wall Street bankers have been attempting to destroy Social Security. They think that by dividing us up―working people, retirees, and people with disabilities―they can erode confidence in the system and eliminate Social Security's universality.

Representative John Larson (D-CT) has introduced the Social Security 2100 Act, a bill that has something for everybody. It expands Social Security's modest benefits, extends the lifespan of the trust fund by 75 years and protects the most vulnerable.

Right now, the Social Security 2100 Act has 157 co-sponsors. This is incredible news—that's over 80% of the House Democratic caucus, considerably more supporters than any Social Security expansion bill has had before.

Now, let's get to 100%. Join Social Security Works in calling on all Democrats in the House of Representatives to become a co-sponsor of the Social Security 2100 Act today.

In recent years, you have moved the national conversation around Social Security away from cuts and toward expansion. You're the reason why the movement to expand Social Security is stronger than ever.

The Social Security 2100 Act has several key factors:

  • This bill increases the benefits of all Social Security recipients and increases Social Security's minimum benefit so that those who work a lifetime at low wages will not retire into poverty;
  • The bill adopts a more accurate cost of living increase so that Social Security's modest benefits don't erode with each passing year;
  • The bill protects the most vulnerable populations ensuring that increases in Social Security benefits do not result in a reduction in SSI benefits or loss of eligibility of Medicaid or CHIP;
  • The bill ensures the top 0.4% of wage earners pay their fair share into Social Security;
  • And the bill extends the lifespan of the trust fund by at least 75 years―ensuring that today's workers, including those just entering the workforce, can rest assured that they will receive all of the Social Security benefits they are earning with every paycheck.

The overwhelming majority of Americans―Democrats, Republicans and Independents―support expanding, not cutting Social Security's modest benefits. Now, so do the overwhelming majority of House Democrats. We need to build on our momentum and get that number to 100%.

The best defense is a good offense. That's why the best way to protect Social Security and Medicare from cuts under the Trump administration is to keep fighting for Medicare for All and expanding Social Security.

Sign the petition calling on all Democrats in the House of Representatives to become a co-sponsor of the Social Security 2100 Act today.

Together we're telling our elected officials exactly where the American people stand: Expand, don't cut Social Security!

Thank you,

Michael Phelan; Social Security Works

Subject: BREAKING: Trump wants to eliminate Social Security's primary funding source

Last month, Donald Trump and Paul Ryan attempted to gut Medicare and Medicaid to give $1 trillion in tax breaks to the wealthy. Thanks to your resistance, that effort went down in flames. Now, rather than learning their lesson, Trump and Ryan are pivoting to an attempt to destroy Social Security to give tax breaks to the wealthy.

This plan is much more insidious than Trumpcare. The Associated Press reports that as part of Trump's tax reform proposal, they are considering eliminating the FICA contributions that fund Social Security. Because only the first $127,200 of wages are taxed, Trump's team are calling this a middle class tax cut. But destroying Social Security's funding will hurt the very people Trump purports to help.

Sign the petition demanding that Donald Trump doesn't raid Social Security's dedicated funding stream to cut taxes for his wealthy friends.

It was reported over the weekend that a GOP lobbyist close to Trump is promoting the plan to completely eliminate Social Security payroll contributions without a firm plan to replace Social Security's funding source.

Eliminating the payroll tax contributions is dangerous―Social Security has maintained its universal popularity over the past 81 years because everyone pays in, and everyone benefits. This dedicated funding stream also insulates Social Security from the annual appropriations process that Republicans use to squeeze other programs designed to help the middle class.

For decades, Republicans in Washington and Wall Street bankers have told us that Social Security is going broke―even though Social Security has a $2.8 trillion surplus and can pay out 100% of benefits for the next 17 years and over 75% of benefits owed after that.

But Republicans' tax plans might be a self-fulfilling prophecy. By starving Social Security of its funding, they could finally receive their wish―replacing Social Security's guaranteed benefit with unstable Wall Street retirement plans.

Demand Donald Trump and Republicans in Washington abandon their attempts to destroy Social Security. Sign the petition to protect Social Security's funding today!

Together we must stay vigilant in our fight to protect and expand Social Security for current and future generations.
