COMPLIMENTARY WEBINAR SERIES

The Hidden Financial Lives of America's Poor and Middle Class

Jan. 21: Part One
Feb. 4: Part Two

An unprecedented look at the financial lives of working Americans and new insights for designing policies, programs and products that can help make their lives better.

There's no question that the American economy has undergone dramatic change over the last 30 years—stagnant wages, rising inequality, automation, freelancing, and globalization. The impact of these economic changes on the lives of low- and moderate-income Americans has been difficult to see, until now. New research indicates that current programs and policies for helping families escape poverty, build stability, move up the ladder, and invest in the future are based on an outdated understanding of what their financial lives looks like—one that no longer reflects reality.

In this complimentary two-part SSIR Live! webinar series, researchers will present findings from the US Financial Diaries study, their implications, and insights for designing new policies, programs, and products to help improve the lives of low- and moderate-income Americans.

Thanks to the generosity of Citi Foundation, this webinar series is complimentary. Learn more about this webinar series and register here.

The Hidden Financial Lives of America's Poor and Middle Class, Part One
January 21, 11 a.m. - 12 noon PST / 2 - 3 p.m. EST

The first webinar in this series will discuss the results and implications of new research into the hidden financial lives of low- and moderate-income American households and delve into the effects of income volatility, how families are adjusting to this volatility, and the gaps in current programs and policies. This webinar will be presented by:

  • Jonathan Morduch, Professor of Policy and Economics, Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University
  • Rachel Schneider, Senior Vice President, Center for Financial Services Innovation
  • H. Luke Shaefer, Associate Professor, University of Michigan, School of Social Work, Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy
  • Diana Elliott, Research Manager, Financial Security and Mobility, The Pew Charitable Trusts

The Hidden Financial Lives of America's Poor and Middle Class, Part Two
February 4, 11 a.m. - 12 noon PST / 2 - 3 p.m. EST

What are the implications of the U.S. Financial Diaries and other recent research and how can they provide insight to help families escape poverty, build stability, move up the ladder, and invest in the future? This webinar will look at innovative policies, products, and programs that seek to help households make ends meet, build security and stability, and invest for the future. We'll consider innovative efforts in all sectors of society—from financial tech start-ups, to new policy approaches at all levels of government, and everything in between. This webinar will be presented by:

  • Jonathan Morduch, Professor of Policy and Economics, Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University
  • Rachel Schneider, Senior Vice President, Center for Financial Services Innovation
  • Ida Rademacher, Executive Director, Financial Security Program, The Aspen Institute
  • Ellen Seidman, Senior Fellow, Urban Institute

Subject: The Continuing Manifestation of Evil in Our Society!

Hello Beloved. I pray that all is well with you and your families. The Word of God instructs us to posture our Spirits according to His succession and that is God, Family, and everything else for Righteousness sake!  Our society is so dysfunctional and out of kilter that the already existing confusion manifested by the absence of discipline, morals, and Righteous structure, has the world heading into complete Armageddon. Evil is puffed up over the Love and Righteousness of God. The greatest bureaucratically structured Government, the United States of America, has become a shell of what the United States of America was originally developed for.  Evil has infected what was available for those who were oppressed in other countries, those who were brought here against their will (Africans as slaves), and those who were here to be discovered (Native American Indians). The historic contributions of African Americans to the world and specifically the United States of America, have been so deeply buried that the lies manifested through our academics, fireside stories, and every venue where conversations take place, are believed by far too many of us.  Our politicians, too many parents, and educators have become instruments for conveying these lies and misnomers through those tools of enslavement such as wages, so called laws, and especially journalism. Institutionalization and systemic vehicles in our society are designed to confuse, make those not intuitive enough to comprehend that they are being led down the path of unrighteousness, and the end results of mental illness that is contributed by so many variables in our neighborhoods, communities, and municipalities, are destroying our world.  Righteousness and love is embedded in our hearts from birth, and the cultivating of it will be the only salvation of God that will save us!
