Special Enrollment Period ends April 30

Don't miss the chance to enroll in health coverage for 2015 if you owe the fee.

The Health Insurance Marketplace is providing individuals and families who owe the fee when they file their 2014 taxes with one last chance to get covered for 2015.

This is too important to put off. If you don't have coverage for the remainder of 2015 you'll risk having to pay the fee again next year for the portion of the year you don't have coverage. The fee for people who don't have coverage increases in 2015. If you don't have health coverage for 2015, the fee is $325 per person or 2% of your household income – whichever is higher.

Millions of people have already signed up for 2015 coverage, and 8 out of 10 who enroll are getting financial help.

We hope you take advantage of this extended opportunity to get quality coverage this year.

For years, opponents claimed nobody would sign up for coverage under the Affordable Care Act. They said people would not pay their premiums. They said there would be death panels, and that the law would kill jobs and be a disaster for our country. They were wrong.

Five years later, the sky hasn't fallen but the uninsured rate has – to record lows

Today, 16.4 million Americans have new coverage and we have seen the largest reduction in the uninsured in four decades. Millions of people no longer have to worry about being refused coverage or getting charged more for a pre-existing condition.

By every measurable standard the ACA is working and providing real and powerful change in people's lives!

Just look beneath the numbers and you'll find success stories of patients whose lives have been saved by their new coverage. People like Lisa Gray who finally has access to the care she needs. Lisa, featured in the Los Angeles Times, was diagnosed with Leukemia and credits the ACA with saving her life. If not for the ACA, she would have been unable to receive chemotherapy.

Thanks to your advocacy, Lisa – and the millions like her – are alive today with access to lifesaving care. You stood up, spoke out, organized in your communities, lobbied Congress, rallied in the rain and used your voice as a trusted physician to speak for patients in need.

Contribute today to help keep physician voices at the forefront of health reform.

Together, we changed our Nation's healthcare system and got it working better for patients again. We know there is still much work to be done to increase access and improve care but we are making real progress as a movement toward a better, healthier America.

Better with Obamacare:

On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed a historic law that has transformed the lives of millions of Americans.
Tomorrow, the Affordable Care Act will celebrate five years of significant progress. That's a fact that people across the country can see in more affordable coverage, higher quality care, and better health, thanks to Obamacare.

After five years of the ACA:

More than 16 million

Americans have gained health coverage

Take a look back at history in the making:

9.4 million

People with Medicare saved a total of more than $15 billion on prescription medications

76 million

People are benefiting from preventive care coverage

105 million

People no longer have a lifetime limit on their health coverage

Up to 129 million

People with pre-existing conditions are no longer at risk of being denied coverage

ZERO

We had a great 5th Birthday Celebration for the Affordable Care Act on Sunday. Today, we celebrate more good news about the law. As we are collecting more and more information about the impact of the ACA, we come to find out that in states that expanded Medicaid, including Ohio, hospitals saved over $5 billion last year compared to less than $2.5 billion in states that refused to expand Medicaid. Moreover, chronic medical conditions like diabetes are diagnosed much more often in Medicaid expanded states and hence more patients are getting treatment once the diagnosis is made. Simple math, you don't have health insurance, you are not going to get diagnosed, your medical problem is not going to be investigated, you are not going to get the needed tests, you are not going to be treated. Can we all agree on simple logic, simple math?

Another good news about the ACA is that the cost of the law is now estimated to be much less than previously estimated by the CBO. This means that the cost of the ACA is deficit neutral or even better! So, on this happy day, there are 16.4 million reasons for Americans to be thankful for a good, compassionate, common sense law that we call Obamacare.
