Subject: Miami Valley District United Methodist Men's meeting Thursday, January 26th
A Miami Valley District United Methodist Men's meeting will be held on Thursday, January 26th at Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church. Registration is from 6:30 - 7 PM with the program starting at 7 PM.
The main speaker will be Pastor Marty McMichael, Associate Pastor at Sulphur Grove and Lead Pastor at the YMCA in Huber Heights.
Pastor Marty will be speaking on Marriage issues. He shares that he spends more time than he'd like dealing with these issues as a pastor. In our recent WOCUMM training on Understanding Men's Ministry, we were informed that many marriages are struggling so this is a timely topic.
Pastor Marty comes with a wealth of knowledge having been in the ministry for the past 24 years in New York starting in a Baptist tradition as a youth pastor. He has a B.A. in Criminal Justice, an M.A. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology, and obtained his M.S. of Divinity from United Theological Seminary and was ordained a Methodist Pastor in 2016. He served as an associate at Stillwater, then Sr. Pastor at Dixon UMC for 5 years and currently at Sulphur Grove as indicated above. Pastor Marty is married, has 5 children, & serves as a Psychology Professor at WSU in addition to his ministry at S.G.
Please share this information with the men of your church. Try to organize a group of men from your church to com with you. Especially for those in smaller churches, we know you can't provide UMM programs so we try to provide programs that would benefit all and all you have to do is come. There is no registration fee but we will pass a hat to off set expenses.

| Exhibits Committee Chairperson and Members Needed
Needed: an exhibits committee with a two-fold purpose.
(1) to find and set-up exhibits. Ideas for exhibits can be found almost anywhere: at universities, libraries, art galleries, environmental groups, churches. Sometimes they are created at the Museum. It's satisfying work for anyone wanting to create peace. (2) to help to manage loans of existing Museum exhibits. This is an excellent way to build awareness and acceptance of the Museum as a peace resource. Past exhibits have covered religion, immigration, and guns, issues that are still very much in the headlines today.
Respond to info@daytonpeacemuseum.org if you are interested in working with exhibits.
| Docents and Other Volunteers Needed
Volunteers Needed: Resolve to devote some time to keep our beloved Peace Museum open five days a week. Two docents are needed at the Museum at all times. Jan Futrell is training new docents on Wednesday, January 18th, in policies and procedures . Volunteer with a friend to do a two or four hour shift once or twice a month and earn the sincere thanks of all who believe in the value of the Museum.
Respond to info@daytonpeacemuseum.org if you are interested in volunteering.

| Dr. Khursid Ahmad, Chair, Board of Trustees, Dayton International Peace Museum |
Khurshid Ahmad "Chair, Board of Trustees, Dayton International Peace Museum"
Dr. Khurshid Ahmad was born and raised in India and Pakistan. He and his family took refuge in Pakistan after the bloody riots that started after India was partitioned into two separate countries in 1947. Dr. Ahmad came to America for his higher education and enrolled in the Ph.D. program at Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. Coming from a middle class family, he did not have money to pay for the high tuition fees, books and other personal expenses. He worked full-time starting at $1/hour wages. He worked late at night and attended classes during the day.
Dr. Ahmad's hard work was eventually rewarded and he earned his doctorate in Applied Economics and Finance. He taught at the University of North Dakota, City University of New York and Rider University before coming to Wright State University. After teaching for 39 years at Wright State University, he retired as Professor Emeritus of Finance in 2006.
Dr. Ahmad has been active in serving the community on issues of social justice, peace, interfaith harmony and charity. He has received four outstanding service awards -- two Presidential Awards and two College of Business Awards -- during his tenure at Wright State University.
Dr. Ahmad lives with his wife, Joyce, in Beavercreek. Their hobbies are reading, traveling and doing charitable work. They have four children, three sons, Ali, Kareen and Shaun, and one daughter, Sunna. They also have two granddaughters Isabella and Abriana. | Imperfect World
Charlotte Paugh's beautiful quilt, "Imperfect World," was won by Ann J. Smith of Tipp City. Ann plans to donate the quilt to her church. The raffle earned $545.00 for the Museum.
