Trudeau hosts Ivanka Trump at Broadway show about international travelers

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday invited first daughter Ivanka Trump to a Broadway musical that celebrates openness to foreign travelers.

President Trump's daughter accompanied Trudeau and UN ambassador Nikki Haley to the performance of "Come From Away" in New York City, according to the New York Times. The pair sat in the audience as the Canadian prime minister took the stage to speak about the relationship between the U.S. and Canada and the importance of friendship.

More than 100 ambassadors from around the world were reportedly also in attendance.

"There is no relationship quite like the friendship between Canada and the United States," Trudeau said in his remarks, according to a video from the event.

"The deep ties ... of business, of friends, of culture, of people traveling back and forth, families of all these connections. This story, this amazing show is very much about that. And it's about friendship as well."

Trudeau praised the story of "Come From Away," set in a small town in Newfoundland that sheltered foreign travelers to thousands of airline passengers who were diverted when the U.S. shut down airspace following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

"When we think about our friends, we think about the people we like to kick back with after a hard day at the office, who we want to see on the weekend, maybe go camping or clogging with or people you want to catch up with for birthdays, mark milestones. … But that's actually not what friendship is about," Trudeau continued.

"Our friends are there for the tough times, when you lost a parent or a loved one when you get knocked off your path in a difficult moment in your life. … And that is ultimately is what this story is all about, being there for each other. Being open, being engaged, and knowing that drawing together through dark times is what is very best for the human spirit."

Following the performance, Trudeau was asked about whether he spoke with Ivanka Trump, and told CBC, "Oh she enjoyed it. As did everyone in the theatre."

Federal Judge Blocks Trump's Latest Travel Ban Nationwide

By ALEXANDER BURNS

A judge in Hawaii stopped the president's revised travel ban from taking effect on Wednesday, dealing another legal blow to the administration.

From: Margaret Fung; Executive Director, AALDEF
Subject: Muslim ban 2.0 blocked, but the fight for immigrant rights continues

Tuesday night, two federal judges in Hawaii and Maryland issued two separate nationwide orders blocking the administration's latest attempt to ban refugees and individuals seeking admission from six Muslim-majority nations.

AALDEF is proud to have been part of a broad coalition of civil rights groups that spoke out early to hold the line against this divisive and unconstitutional executive order. AALDEF joined the Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality to submit an amicus brief to the Hawaii federal court on March 10, stating that the latest executive order was based on outdated cases and a history of overt racism against communities of color, including the so-called "precedent" of the World War II incarceration of Japanese Americans by executive order.

We also salute the courage of Ismail Elshikh, a Muslim leader and a resident of Hawaii for more than a decade, who joined the State of Hawaii in this lawsuit. Read more in Emil Guillermo's post on the AALDEF blog, "Thanks to Hawaii and Ismail Elshikh, Travel Ban 2.0 Blocked For Now."

But let's not forget that these legal victories are temporary. The fight against the discriminatory Muslim ban must continue through litigation and by organizing in our communities. In the current anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim climate, hate crimes based on race or religion are happening with greater frequency, and ICE raids and enforcement actions threaten to tear apart immigrant families. We must not allow our government to keep promoting the politics of fear and division under the guise of national security.

The fight for immigrant rights will continue, and there are many ways you can help. If you are in New Jersey or New York, tell your friends and neighbors about the free legal clinics where individuals can seek legal advice from AALDEF staff attorneys:

Why is this not seen on mainstream media?  Is it perhaps that the msm is controlled by elites?  Cia? Perhaps.

I usually enjoy your posts and agree but I think we have to let the legitimate elected president have some time to implement his agenda that he ran on before being attacked for just about everything he does. There is a war going on a silent coup in our government and the good guys won. As intelligent as you are please do some research outside the mainstream media before jumping on the bandwagon. . Donald Trump won 3,084 of America's 3,141 counties.

Some good sites are www.sott.net specifically this clip which is pretty telling about the CIA and rogue government having their ass handed to them finally by a strong leader. There are so many issues to discuss like drug running, selling arms, constant war, coups against foreign governments that dare to cross the US> We are losing our place in the world as the leader because we are corrupt and a bully. Russia, China and Iran are the new leaders preaching prosperity, cooperation and peace. Why would we fight that? Well because it means the dollar will decline as the worlds reserve currency and that means 40% hit to our retirement, purchasing power etc… I would be more concerned about my financial health than trying to stir up trouble. Our standard of living cannot continue unless the rest of the world owns dollars to trade petroleum, and they are not holding them anymore or buying out 20 trillion in debt. We are in for some serious hard times my friend, get ready and think before you take up the mantle of someone who has another agenda. All the best John Miggins

I have spoken before about how the media must create a narrative and then come up with content to justify the narrative EVERY SINGLE DAY. And since they are liberal, it's almost entirely their perspective we see. So, below would be my content subject matter to be repeated every segment of the broadcast. And of course would bring in for interviews those who support this position in Congress and those who have been personally harmed in some way by the subject to bolster my outlet's position. And maybe even bring in some of those on the fence and attack their position with my evidence claiming that they have no evidence, etc.

  1. The Dems are sore losers and are making up stories to feed their donor base to generate donations. Why not repeat over and over how Claire McCaskill lied about the Russians.
  2. The Russians didn't invent the leaked information from Clinton's server--Clinton did.
  3. The USA a proud and great country-- is not so weak as to allow the Russians to control our elections.
  4. Obama controlled the security of our country during the election process. If anybody failed regarding security, it's him and his administration. Speaking of Obama, did he just steal control away from the people re the new DNC head that came out of no where, is this evidence of the elitist corruption of the D party. Let's investigate and talk incessantly about it! LOL. This could bring great division and pain to the D party.
  5. The RNC server was attacked but they did a better job of protecting their servers than the DNC. Maybe that's because they put more resources into it vs being concerned about having Clinton defeat Sanders.
  6. Donald Trump won 3,084 of America's 3,141 counties.
  7. We need the Obamacare replacement
  8. We need tax reform
  9. What is the new DHS office--VOICE. How will it help the victims of illegal immigrant crime. And of course show the pain created by those illegals and the great help that this new office created by Trump is helping many.
  10. We have a bright future. And of course provide examples of Trump's success and how businesses are doing better, jobs are better, etc.

I wrote this because Fox News is not conservative through and through or the above would be a big if not biggest part of their broadcast vs the content that resembles other outlets. IE, why even cover/broadcast content that's not true/helpful. You don't want to bury your head but none of the stories on the news attacking Trump or his admin have ANY merit.

"If you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth".

Imagine your day filled with my 10 stories vs those being broadcast by the media who do not like conservatives. "garbage in/garbage out"

Subject: Amazon is literally *disconnecting* customers who mention Breitbart

Today was pretty wild.

As tens of thousands of you contacted Amazon on their live chat system recently, a bunch of you noticed a disturbing pattern: as soon as "Breitbart" or "hate speech" was mentioned, Amazon would disconnect the chat.

Together, we overloaded their chat service and now Amazon is running scared.

That's pretty amazing! But we won't let them run away from their support of Steven Bannon and white nationalists.

So here's what's next:

1. Send a quick email to Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon: jeff@amazon.com — Tell him to adopt a hate speech policy and to end his funding for Breitbart. If you are a Prime member, say so! They can't afford to lose us all.

2. Share the petition with three friends. Here's the link: http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/amazon-stop-supporting?mailing_id=37153&source=s.icn.em.cr&r_by=4513377 — Maybe even just forward this email to them, so they can see the progress and how Amazon has responded.

We are living in scary and in many ways unprecedented times. Steve Bannon and his white nationalist friends are in the White House, spreading hate and fear about immigrants and Muslims and literally breaking families apart.

This is one of those moments in history that you read about, where we all have a chance to stand up for what is right and what is just.

Thank you for fighting for justice!

No! Really? Begin forwarded message:

http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/3/14/14921594/obamacare-implosion-ahca

Beyond its eye-popping findings on higher premiums and large-scale coverage loss, the Congressional Budget Office's official score of the American Health Care Act also quietly demolishes the central publicly stated rationale for repealing the Affordable Care Act. The key passage is a somewhat jargon-full sentence on the second page of the report that says, "In CBO and JCT's assessment, however, the nongroup market would probably be stable in most areas under either current law or the legislation.
