U.S. and the rest of the world must cooperate for the benefit of all

Friends,

Our next anti-war protest will be on Saturday, April 12th at 1 pm at Far Hills and Stroop.

Many people in the Dayton area, like most Americans, are tired of war and the almost endless ultimatums our presidents dish out to other nations. They often think they are alone in their feeling of powerlessness, but when they see us with our signs they know that in unity there is strength, and hearing other cars honk for peace also gives them more hope.

The people in their vehicles at that intersection must suspect that when our leaders admonish other countries to follow the rule of law there is a hollow ring of insincerity in their pontificating.  And they are right!

Rule of law?  Our drones are sent out to kill people with no legal justification. The invasion of Iraq in 2003 was but the latest in a long string of violations of the national sovereignty of other nations. It’s as if laws are to be enforced only when other nations are the violators and the motto Might Makes Right supersedes the  golden rule.

Surely, many parents also must feel that their efforts to inculcate respect for the law are being undermined when the highest officials in our nation do not feel restrained by laws. For more  information on this subject you may want to check out Dave Lindorff’s article:  “How Can the US Accuse Russia of Violating International Law” at  http://www.nationofchange.org/how-can-us-accuse-russia-violating-international-law-1394117118

Without U.S. efforts in the Ukraine there would have been no coup d’état and the ordinary low-income people of Ukraine would not be faced with austerity measures imposed by the IMF that will make them poorer, while the 50  billionaires in the Ukraine apparently will feel little or no pain.
