Subject: Program about the art and personal stories of Japanese American internees of America's WW-II concentration camps -- Saturday Oct. 29th, 2:30-4:00 pm, WSU Student Union
The Dayton Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is presenting a program on art created by Japanese American WW-II internees and lessons from their incarceration that related to Islamophobia today.
We will screen 2 short videos, "The Art of Gaman," featuring art created by Japanese American internees of America's WW-II concentration camps, and "Voices Long Silent," that tells the story of the evacuation of 120,000 Japanese Americans (2/3 of whom were citizens), their relocation, incarceration, return, and, finally, redress for the abrogation of their civil rights and challenges to their dignity.
Besides the art created by internees, the program will include personal stories of internees and lessons from that experience that relate to Islamophobia today.. It is free and open to the public.

Subject: November Women's Interfaith Discussion
Peace to each of you during this lovely month of October! How quickly the days are passing and we find it is time to alert you to the next Ladies Interfaith gathering scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd. We will be hosted by Grace United Methodist Church located at the corner of Salem Avenue and Harvard Blvd. This congregation is known for its justice outreach reflected in its Vision Statement: "Grace is for everyone. Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors." We are grateful for the opportunity to gather at this church in the heart of Dayton.
REMINDER: In an effort to include women who cannot make day-time meetings, we will gather at 5:30 for this particular meeting. As in the past, we encourage you to invite others to attend with you. Your interest and enthusiasm are catching!
Our time together will begin with a tour and history of the church followed by refreshments. Presentations this month will focus on Rituals in Islam, Judaism and Christianity. As always there will be time for questions and answers which contribute so much to the understanding of our different faith traditions.
We look forward to seeing you and to meeting new friends.

Subject: Last Citizenship Clinic of the Year
Welcome Dayton and ABLE will be co-hosting our last naturalization clinic of the year on Saturday, November 5, from 1-3 p.m. at the Dayton Library's temporary downtown location at 120 S. Patterson Street. I've attached the flyer. If you all could please let anyone know who you think might be eligible for citizenship, I'd really appreciate it.
This clinic is a good opportunity for people to come and get free legal assistance completing these citizenship forms. Please let me know if you have any questions.
