Subject: We need 21 House Republicans to vote NO on Trumpcare

Our phone calls are working—as more House Republicans are coming out against Trumpcare. All we need is six more votes, and we can stop this atrocity.

Call Representative Michael R. Turner at (202) 225-6465. Even if you already have called, please call again and leave this message:

Hi, my name is Munsup Seoh from 45431 in Beavercreek. I strongly oppose the American Health Care Act, and urge you to vote NO when it comes to a vote. Every day, more Republicans come out against it. Can we count on you to oppose it as well?

After you have made the phone call, click here to fill out the form to let us know how it went.

Can't call? Please write a personalized letter to your Republican House member.

We need 21 House Republicans to vote "NO" on Trumpcare, and as of March 16 we are up to fifteen. Some are right-wing extremists who believe that taking health insurance away from 14 million people next year does not go far enough. But others are clearly coming out against it because of constituent pressure.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) spoke out against the bill this week, because "too many of my constituents will lose insurance and there will be less funds to help the poor and elderly with their health care." Even if your member is already one of the 15 against the bill, you should still call them to keep up the pressure.

Your phone calls are making an impact, but we haven't won yet. Please call your House Republican at the above phone number, and leave the following message:

Hi, my name is Munsup Seoh from 45431 in Beavercreek. I strongly oppose the American Health Care Act, and urge you to vote NO when it comes to a vote. Every day, more Republicans come out against it. Can we count on you to oppose it as well?

Subject: Hunger Awareness Dinner next Wednesday (March 22) evening

Please join us next Wednesday evening at the House of Bread for our 11th annual Hunger Awareness Dinner! Arrive at 6pm to enjoy a delicious dinner of baked fish, rice pilaf, roasted vegetables, fresh bread, fruit, salad and cake for dessert. Tickets are $10 in advance or at the door, but it's very helpful if you purchase tickets in advance.

Following the dinner, there will be a short presentation and discussion by Dr. Sarah Twill of Wright State University. Dr. Twill will share why the WSU food pantry for students was started, and trends regarding college students and food insecurity.

This event is organized and sponsored by the Wright State University Social Work Club, and is a matching funds event by the Catholic Order of Foresters. Tickets and more information is at www.houseofbread.org.

Subject: March 26: Racing Extinction film

You are invited to a showing of the film, "Racing Extinction" on Sunday, March 26 from 3:00-5:30 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Road in Kettering. (3rd floor, Foster Hall)

Racing Extinction, a Discovery Channel documentary released in 2015, is full of beautiful and horrifying images that are not easily forgotten. From majestic whale sharks to slaughtered manta rays, the subjects of this new documentary reveal nature's beauty and force viewers to confront the detrimental effects of human activity on the planet. (Yale Scientific review)

Programs are free and open to the public. Refreshments are served. If you choose to bring something, please, no pork or shellfish. Labeled ingredients on homemade foods deeply appreciated for those with sensitivities.

From: Theo Majka
Subject: Info and flyer of Voices of the Immigrant Experience at UD April 11

The event of Voices of the Immigrant Experience is scheduled on April 11 at UD. It will be 5:30-7:30pm in Kennedy Union's Torch Lounge. This is one the first floor in the back as one comes in by the front doors.

Immigrant panelists generally share their experiences and/or those of their group in coming to the U.S., the challenges they face in adapting, cultural practices (and differences), etc. This puts human faces on what are often regarded as abstract categories, something we need more than ever.

The audience will break into small discussion groups (joined by the panelists). Welcome Dayton has questions that guide the discussion.

The tentative list of panelists for our Voices includes an Intensive English Program instructor at UD who is from one of the countries affected by Trump's temporary travel ban. Also scheduled is a younger refugee from the the Democratic Republic of the Congo and a mixed status married couple (with kids) who are long-time Dayton residents.
